Symbolism
Lake. snow. copper. mountains.
The three main colors represent the intersection of the 3 major areas of our state: Dark Blue represents the Great Salt Lake and our depth and stability as a city. Light blue represents the greatest snow on earth, our unique salt flats and tranquility. Burnt orange represents our world-famous copper mines and entryway for many to the deserts of southern Utah, as well as prosperity being the industrial banking capital.
Salt Lake is the gateway to all the wonders this state has to offer. The backdrop of Mount Olympus and our state seagull flying up from the mountain represents our cities drive and spirit. The seagull represented with wings outstretched represents this cities love and embrace to all its residents. The star represents our dark skies but also the glimmer of the hammer hitting the nail marking Salt Lake City the crossroads of the west and the great connector for the East and West of the United States.
